Roosters, to see what books you need to read just click on the link for the Rhode Island Children's Book Awards (under Rooster Books). Please get books from the public library, as other schools are also participating in the Games and won't lend you their copies.
When you finally have a favorite book, check it off on our poll and we can check our results against the rest of the kids in Rhode Island. Will we pick the 2009 winner? Only time will tell.
A blog where the team members can message each other about the books they've read, the objects they think might represent the books, and a place to get to know each other.
Welcome our newly hatched Roosters 2009!
This year Jamestown looks forward to visiting our Rooster Games teammates at their school in lovely Matunuck. We are all so lucky to be living in such beautiful locations, by the water (Narragansett Bay for us and the Atlantic Ocean for Matunuck!) This will be our 4th year to play together and if you look at the comments from previous years (see the bottom two posts from 2008 and 2007) you will see what a great time we've had!
Start reading.......................................Now!!!!!
This Friday you are ALL winners!
Mrs. Casey and Mrs. Gannon just want to let their students know that we are very proud of you. You've read a tremendous amount of books and cheered each other on and now we're ready to play. Getting to this point means you are all winners in OUR book. Don't forget to wear your team colors. Be kind, relax, have fun, and work together to do your best; and good luck to everyone!
May 9th will be here sooner than you think!
We see a lot of team spirit in the comment section! You are all using this blog to get to know each other, cheer each other on and share what books you've read. Did you ask your team members what books they haven't read yet? Maybe all ten of you can break it up so all the books are covered.
Have you gone to the Rhode Island Children's Book Awards site? The link is at the bottom of the page under "ROOSTER BOOKS". You can comment on the books you like by choosing your faves and clicking on the "comments" link. As you can see, it's really a blog just like ours.
Can you guess what objects will represent the books? Is anyone going for the trophy? I know some people who are.....
Keep on reading, you guys!!!
